An American Dreamer
Born in Laos during the Vietnam War, Bo was a child of a refugee family caught in the fray and forced to flee. They were fortunate to immigrate to the United States as the war spread into Laos in 1980. More than most children, he witnessed life's brutal and ugly side, and the incredible lengths people will go to survive. His family eventually settled in Northern Indiana with the help of a small, welcoming community of Mennonite parishioners. There, in that peaceful farming community, he discovered his love for art and his inherent ability to create. Bo’s late father, a prolific, self-taught painter, deeply inspired the development of his creative traits.
Today, Bo is living his American dream as an artist in full bloom. He creates and celebrates what he sees as beautiful, using his art to heal and overcome those tumultuous childhood years. From subjects of nature to fashion, its representative personifications are gorgeous, empowering one’s personal hopes and dreams is magical, and the freedom to express oneself is true power. For Bo, art catalyzes life through imagination and has been the saving grace on his path to finding peace in adulthood.
Bo’s journey as an artist began early on, leading him to pursue formal education in digital and graphic arts at Purdue University, where he studied Visual Communication Design and art history. A deeply curious mind led him through an eclectic array of creative industries over the years—ranging from pet fashion to toy manufacturing and stamp making. These diverse experiences heavily influence and enrich his contemporary work. Bo has always considered his creativity and imagination to be gifts meant to be explored, expressed, and shared with the world.
