Bleeding Heart

*** SOLD ***

In this experimental piece, I incorporated distinct stamp effects into this artwork, giving it a unique approach. The heart subject is a complex matter. I wanted to show that a person's heart goes beyond what you see and what you collect to hold onto in a person’s life. On the outer appearance, it may seem dull, gray, black, and white, but look closer, and the heart is made of pure gold on the inside, sweet like dripping honey once broken open. When it comes to the heart of the matter, it's a sponge, a collector of love and pain. Our heart is a harbinger of external sadness, breaks, happiness, joy, and whatever we choose to hold on to or let pass.

I also wanted to approach the artwork in a manner that hints at the style of tattoo art. Art that is permanent once drawn on the skin. When someone gets a tattoo, it is chosen with care and thought because it will be permanent. It will serve as a reminder of a certain mentality, space, and time. It's something sacred and personal to us. This idea is the same for this subject matter. We get to choose to hold on to external things that affect our hearts and minds. The artwork is an abstract visual collage of collected feelings and visual representations expressing inner and outer circumstances. Even through pain and suffering, its beauty is no match. Through the individual observer, we can either see chaos or beauty. Your interpretation is up to you and will reflect your inner and outer path.
